Sierra Nevada Sams
The Sierra Nevada Sams of Douglas County, Nevada started their camping season on April 30th at the Weed Heights RV Park in Yerington, Nevada with cake and ice cream In celebration of its 25th year as a Good Sam Club Chapter. Peggy O'Hearn is still making every camp-out that she can. Peggy is an original member, going back to the very first outing 25 years ago.
Our June outing was held at the Lahontan State Park and a very windy one it turned out to be. In July we traveled to Fallon where we stayed at the Fallon RV Park. In August we dry camped at the Boy Scout Camp near Fort Churchill, between Silver Springs and Yerington. While there, we toured the nearby “The Buckman House” and were treated to an interesting history lesson regarding the home’s many different occupants and uses over the years.
September’s trip was our only one that involved driving over 100 miles. We stayed at the Pioneer RV Park in Quincy, California, arriving the day after the area experienced a torrential amount of rain. Our final outing of 2013 started on October 1st and we were back where we started at the Weed Heights RV Park in Yerington, Nevada
Our final get-together of the year was our annual Christmas Luncheon at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, Nevada. We enjoyed a buffet lunch and concluded the festivities with a Gift Exchange.
